To long since the previous favorite tune. I stumbled upon a Jazzanova remix of Bobby Hutcherson's Love Song from 1975's "Montara" and went straight for the original. Enjoy, reminds me of early Return to Forever. Wiki.

Historic footage indeed of Airto Moreira - Flora Purim in concert. Kei Akagi is on keyboards. Other musicians: Larry Nass on guitar? Keith Jones bass? Laudir de Oliveira percussion? Date unknown. More info welcome.

At 91 my compatriot Toots Thielemans stops performing in public. Well, give him a break won't you, the man is on the road since the end of World War II. Benny Goodman himself conceived him to take the plunge over the ocean to the United States.

Since then he has had a great adventure into jazz, pop and film music scoring. Head news these days in Belgium that Jean Thielemans was retiring. Well you deserved it Toots and this is not the final goodbye, hope to hear from you again.

Had a quick look at an old copy of Modern Drummer this morning and the name Tony Verderosa caught my eye. Tony dove into the combination of electronic and acoustic drums a decade (or more) ago and combined them with loops, grooves and keyboardhits/chords almost like a DJ would do. I would love to trigger chords like that.

Some people may not like this approach to drumming and music. But at least this is an interesting way of excercising/experimenting and would enhance every drummer's skills and chops.

World renowned flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia is no longer with us. Born in Andalucia, a true fusion musician in the real sense of the word, de Lucia never hesitated to cross the borders of pure flamenco.

Jazz fans will know him for the famous trio he established with John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola. Truly grace, passion & fire.
