Well it's about time to celebrate the music of Weather Report. Weatherreportmusic.com is calling fans from all over the planet. Check it out and remember also the superb documented site on Weather Report's discography from binkie.net www.weatherreportdiscography.org.

The world has lost another of his finest musicians: George Duke. Mr. Duke was an outstanding keyboard player, composer and producer sharing stage and studio space with Frank Zappa, Miles Davis (Amandla album), Michael Jackson and Stanley Clarke. George Duke died at the age of 67 in Los Angeles. Goodbye George and thanks for the gift of music.

I came along this clip from 1990 searching for Jeff Porcaro. Fun!

Pat Metheny has recorded "Tap",  volume 20 in the ongoing series "Book of Angels" by John Zorn. Due to be released in May on both Nonesuch and Tzadik labels this is, at least for me, an unexpected collaboration. Metheny however has, in the past, worked with people like Ornette Coleman or Steve Reich. So the avant-garde side is no uncommon place for him.

Wow, thirty years ago I catched an excerpt of this on German television and was blown away. I went out to Cologne and bought the "Lifelike" album a few weeks later. You should know Doldinger from his score for the "Das Boot" movie.
